THE MOST LOVED PAKISTANI IN THE WORLD

Once upon a time there was a boy born in Gujarat, British India in 1928. When he was 11, his mother became  paralysed from a stroke and eventually she died when this boy was 19 years old. The partition of India led this boy to migrate to Pakistan in 1947.

He never recieved formal education. This boy was so poor that he wasn't even able to buy himself more than a pair of clothes. He never owned any property neither did he ever stood in elections.

This man died on 8th July, 2016, at an age of 88. Here is a picture of his funeral:

Let's begin the story.

After migrating to Karachi, Pakistan in 1947, this boy started working as a street peddler, selling pencils, towels, etc. At a very young age he saw his mother dying in front of her eyes at a very young age while waiting for an ambulance. Instead of protesting or picking up a gun, this boy decided to stand on a street corner and beg money, to buy an ambulance himself.

Finally, he raised the money he needed and bought an old van. He painted it white. He drove it himself, day and night, on a mission to save lives, irrespective of their religion, race or creed.

Slowly and slowly, the number of his ambulances increased with time. He opened medical centres and orphanages. He still kept begging for funds regularly. He even gave a respectable burial to the unclaimed dead bodies.

This man was respected by the gangsters. This man was envied by the politicians. This man was ridiculed by the right to centre. But the respect he earned on the streets, made him 'The Most Loved Pakistani In The History'.

He even went to Hajj on that same old van. He denied his wife from carrying extra clothes as he needed maximum space to bring back donated medical supplies.

In his lifetime, this uneducated simple man set up a foundation that transports millions of people in urgent medical need every year, running the LARGEST AMBULANCE NETWORK IN THE WORLD.

He gave his own name to over 20,000 children, adopting them as a doting father, trained over 40,000 nurses and gave shelter to over 50,000 orphans while leading a life of simplicity and servitude.

When questioned by a few extremists and right wingers on why he helped people of all creeds, castes and religions, he replied: “Because my ambulance is more Muslim than you.”

Janab Abdul Sattar Edhi was the name of this Great Man.

Janab Abdul Sattar Edhi was a shining example of the triumph of love over hate and earned acclaim around the world.
